land

quickly
onward

Gerda

frightened

cry

heard
her

the
sparrows

carry
her
to
land

they
flew
along
the
bank

sang

if
to
comfort

The
boat
drifted
with
the
stream

little
Gerda
sat
quite
still
without
shoes

for
they
were
swimming
behind
the
boat

she
could

reach
them

boat
went

faster
than
they
did
