He
walked
down
the
front
steps
of
the
hospital
and
noticed
two
men
in
a
car
parked
opposite

entrance

crossed
the
footbridge
.
As
he
stepped
on
the
bridge
,
the
car
window
rolled
down
.
A
hand
held
a
gun
.
Someone
yelled
,
"
Milligan
!
"
He
froze
.

defused

shot
missed

as

turned
and
jumped
into

creek

missed
